CAS:7440-20-2
Premium-grade industrial
Production standards: GB/T 16476-2018
Product Properties:
Scandium is a soft, silvery-white transition metal. In its pure form, scandium readily combines with oxygen, carbon dioxide, and water when exposed to air, so it must be sealed and stored in an argon-filled environment. As the lightest member of the rare earth family, scandium has a low density, excellent ductility, and outstanding catalytic properties, making it a versatile and high-performing material in the field.
Applications:
In the semiconductor industry, scandium is used in various semiconductor devices, primarily as a dopant to modify the electrical properties of semiconductor materials. Scandium-doped aluminum nitride thin films, known as aluminum scandium nitride (AlScN), are essential materials for high-frequency BAW filters in 5G technology. Scandium metal and its compounds are widely applied across fields such as metallurgy, chemical engineering, aerospace, marine, superconductivity, lasers, nuclear energy, and electronics.
Scandium oxide can be used to produce efficient lasers and specialized ceramics. Scandium alloy materials are key in aerospace as structural materials for high-speed aircraft and planes. Additionally, scandium-based products find extensive use in fuel cells, cathode materials, scandium sodium halide lamps, and catalysts.
