Product Properties:

Lanthanum metal appears as a silvery-gray solid and has highly reactive chemical properties. It is easily soluble in dilute acids, has a soft texture, and is easy to cut. Lanthanum oxidizes readily in air, and its fresh surface quickly tarnishes upon exposure. When heated, it can combust to form oxides and nitrides. 

Applications:

Lanthanum metal is an important additive and alloying element used in the production of specialty steels, nonferrous metal alloys, and hydrogen storage materials. It is also used as a reducing agent in the production of other metals.
